Frequently Asked Questions:
"We just need you for 15 minutes, can you adjust your rate"
Please understand that that this is a full size Big Band/Jazz Orchestra. 15 minutes costs us an extra 2 hours of preparation time before and after the performance, assuming the performance is local. We will be happy to perform for 15 minutes, but the standard rates (above) apply.
"We thought we'd just give you a place to play and be seen. We'll do the publicity, can't you give us a break on the price?"
We have a beautiful, 800 seat auditorium that is a 5 minute walk across our campus as well as a lighted billboard available any time. The funds raised from performances like this support many other programs in the instrumental music department. If we want to give a free concert, we will do so in our auditorium and happily invite the community, which we do several times per year.
"Can we just have a few players only, do we have to have the whole band?"
Our music selections are written to be played by a full ensemble. Having only a few players would diminish the quality and jeopardize the confidence of our young musicians, therefore we only travel with the full group. There may be a time in the future where we have a combo available. That would appear on this page and at a greatly reduced rate. Currently we have no combos.
Marching Band
Please understand that this is a 120 piece marching band, the largest ensemble in the community and traveling anywhere requires a minimum of 1 hour lead time. If we go somewhere outside of the Leesburg area it requires busses at a rate of $3.50 per mile and $17 per hour for the bus. The marching band requires three buses and chaperones and support staff who must be paid

Frequently Asked Questions:
"I pay taxes, I expect a band in my parade."
We perform in City of Leesburg venues exclusively. We are funded as a civic organization by the City of Leesburg. Property taxes pay to have the electricity on and a professional educator in the classroom. In order to exist we must fundraise 95% of our total budget annually. The county funds available pay for sheet music and entry/transportation costs to our required educational music assessments.

The only marching unit we have is the Swarm of Sound Marching Band. We have a Pep Band, but they don't march.
